An update was submitted on 1/2/2010 which fixes crashes that some people are experiencing. One of the main problems that was reported is an application crash that occurred when scrolling through the app list on the Apps tab. It doesn’t appear to be crashing for everyone, but if this is happening to you, I’d be happy to send you a custom build before the update is approved.

Switching web hosting providers
December 30, 2010 by Dave
I started out using Tumblr because of it’s ease of use – quite frankly I’d rather spend time writing iPhone apps than web code. As many people know Tumblr has been encountering some technical difficulties as of late.
My issues with Tumblr started before that. On occasion, I would get errors that my posts could not be saved or that they are having problems with their servers. I am an impatient person – did I mention that I’d rather be writing iPhone apps?
So a few weeks ago I setup a blog on Blogger as a backup (also to make sure that it had all the features I really needed) and alleviate some annoyances I’ve experienced with Tumblr. A few of those things that bothered me (in addition to the site problems) is their HTML editor window is hard-coded to a tiny little square that can’t be resized, they don’t support inline javascript (for WuFoo forms), and they aren’t very SEO friendly. So far Blogger seems to have all those features and a few other niceties that make it easy to manage a site.
The site is now running on the Blogger platform and should be a little more stable.
I also added a contact form if anyone needs to report a problem with an app or just wants to say “Hi”.

The only iTunes Connect Mobile alternative for iPhone app developers
December 17, 2010 by Dave
Apple’s iTC Mobile app has been around since June 11th, 2010 and, to be quite frank, is not very user friendly. I’ve spent more time trying to decode the data provided by the iTunes Connect Mobile app when all I really wanted to know was “How many people downloaded my app” or better yet “How much money did I make”.
It sounds simple – I mean Apple DOES have that data. Why do they make it so cumbersome for app developers to find it.I have to admit that the new version 1.1 is a huge improvement. The interactive graphs are really nice but they still don’t tell me (or at least estimate) how much money the apps made on a given day. Furthermore, the data is limited to 26 weeks and does not provide ranking or reviews.
As a developer and engineer, I have to fix everything. So I fixed iTunes Connect Mobile by creating an alternative (with the help of appFigures.com). Enter appTrends – an iPhone app developers best friend. It gives developers instant access to their app sales, downloads, updates, sales in all countries, rankings in all countries, and reviews.
This is the full feature list (which is going to get even better very soon)
- Total Downloads, Updates, and Profit
- Downloads, Updates, and Profit by Application
- Downloads, Updates, and Profit by In-App Purchases
- Downloads, Updates, and Profit by Country
- Filter by Application and Date
- Daily and Weekly Reports
- Ranking by country and category
- Reviews and Ratings
- High Resolution Graphics Optimized for Retina Display
- Works with appFigures FREE accounts (no subscription required)
I released appTrends version 1.1 on 12/9/2010 which added the following features:
- Now works with appFigures FREE accounts (no subscription required)
- Users app icons in reports are now optimized for retina display
- Added filtering by app for all reports
- Added weekly reports
- Now including In-App purchases in the App and Country reports
appTrends is powered by appFigures and requires either a FREE or paid account on appFigures.com. Users with free appFigures accounts are limited to sales data and will not have access to ranking and reviews unless they upgrade their account to the premium or publisher account which starts at $4.99 per month.
appTrends is available in the App Store now for $3.99.

The appFigures iPhone app has arrived!
by Dave

Many iPhone developers, myself included, have already discovered appFigures.com and cannot live without the powerful sales, downloads, and ranking metrics that appFigures provides for apps in the App Store. While the appFigures site is constantly being improved and gaining new features, the one big feature that has been lacking is a mobile companion to their website. Well, the wait is finally over – enter appTrends. Thanks to the new appFigures.com API, which is also being improved at a very rapid pace, I’ve created the first appFigures iPhone app!
I had the privilege of working closely with the fine folks at appFigures.com to make sure the app worked smoothly with certain changes in the API and that features like In-App Purchases are working correctly in the new filter function. Their staff was extremely helpful and instrumental in making this 1.1 release a very substantial update.
The first version of appTrends has been available since November 20th, 2010 and had some bugs and limitations. With those shortcomings, however, came a 50% cost savings for customers who downloaded the early version. The reduced price is still in effect until version 1.1 is approved, so don’t wait! Version 1.1 was submitted to the App Store on December 2nd, 2010.
The features for appTrends 1.1 will include:- Total Downloads, Updates, and Profit
- Downloads, Updates, and Profit by Application
- Downloads, Updates, and Profit by In-App Purchases
- Downloads, Updates, and Profit by Country
- Filter by Application and Date
- Daily and Weekly Reports
- Ranking by country and category
- Reviews and Ratings
- High Resolution Graphics Optimized for Retina Display
The app can be downloaded in the App Store right now for 50% off. The new version should be approved very soon.
So what’s next for appTrends? Well, let’s just say that looking at only numbers can get a little boring… Also, while appTrends will never have ads in the app, I realize that some of you might.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback! Let’s keep making this thing better!
Here is a sneak peak of version 1.1

Dumball for iPhone is available now!!!
by Dave

Dumball – A simple, yet exciting, ball bouncing extravaganza!!!
Dumball has been approved and is available in the App Store!
ONLY $0.99!
Dumball is a very casual (and sometimes frantic) game. It’s a very simple game to play but can get very challenging.
The goal is to bounce the ball on a trampoline that is the same color as your ball. Tilt the iPhone or iPod Touch left or right to control the ball. The ball changes color every time it bounces on a trampoline, making it more challenging as the game progresses.Category iphone | Tags: | No Comments
